Extended Horizons, a Maui based dive company since 1983, is seeking a contract data and systems engineer to help build, integrate and maintain the AI and data systems that support our daily operations. This is a support role working alongside our existing technology team.
Responsibilities
- Solidify and document the AI workflows and agent setups we run on Claude and OpenClaw, and help launch new AI projects
- Build and maintain our second brain knowledge system and the databases behind it
- Develop integrations between our AI tools and our booking and communication platforms
- Maintain and secure our self hosted business tools and servers
- Build small internal web tools and guest facing guides, and make updates to our website and online booking listings
- Set up and support AI tools for staff, troubleshoot issues and put lasting fixes in place
Qualifications
- Experience in software, data or systems engineering, or a strong record of independent AI projects
- Working knowledge of databases and APIs, and of running and securing services on Linux servers (Docker, DNS, backups)
- Experience with Claude, OpenClaw or second brain systems, and with building data pipelines, API connectors or MCP servers, preferred
- Experience with Git and deploying web apps, WordPress or online booking platforms a plus
- Clear written communication, including explaining technical work to non technical staff

- Contract, available to start immediately
- Flexible hours based on our current needs, with opportunities for extended contract work for the right candidate
- Maui local preferred; in person to start, with remote work available once established
- Well suited to someone building a portfolio in AI systems or software engineering
